Hope is an Act of Rebellion

Every once in awhile a story comes out of nowhere and surprises me. This story about a girl with a fiery spirit and the ability to convince her best friend to do big scary things is just that story.

When I wrote, Hope is a Four-Letter-Word I was thinking about all the ways that young girls are told they can’t, and how this transfers into our adult lives too. The simple act of identifying as a girl/woman is a political one.

This story of mine was lucky enough to be scooped up into an anthology called, Hope is an Act of Rebellion.

Hope is an Act of Rebellion features poetry and short stories from fifteen new, established, and emerging writers. Uplifting, thought-provoking, and emotional, each piece is written on the theme of ‘hope’ and explores what it means for the individual as well as for wider society.”

All proceeds from the sale of this anthology will be donated to Planned Parenthood.
